ELKO – The Elko Community Health Center, an outpatient surgical facility located in the East End Mall, is now open and accepting patients. Outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment in a fully modern care center, Elko CHC offers a new option for specialty healthcare and surgical procedures to residents of Northeast Nevada.
“We are incredibly excited to serve the Elko Community and be able to offer high quality surgical care close to home,” said Andrea Haslehurst, Chief Nursing Officer at Elko CHC. “We’ve put together a team of skilled local healthcare professionals who care deeply about their patients and their community.”
This team includes a full-time nursing and facility staff based in Elko, currently hiring, and a roster of practicing physicians who will provide surgical, pre-, and post- operative care out of Elko CHC.
“We have recruited highly qualified surgeons, including both local providers and those that travel to our community from other parts of Nevada, Utah, and Idaho to bring world-class care directly to our patients,” said Haslehurst.

Elko CHC currently offers care across more than ten surgical disciplines, including cardiology, orthopedics, and general surgery, with more practitioners and specialties added regularly. Since the facility’s opening in March of this year Elko CHC has been continually credentialing new providers, among them Dr. Michael Song, a highly experienced board-certified neurosurgeon based out of Reno, who performed his first Elko CHC procedure in August.
“Many Elko patients previously traveled to see Dr. Song,” Haslehurst said. Thanks to Elko CHC, “they will now be able to receive that same high-quality care from him in their local community.”
Elko CHC’s team has been pleased with their first six months in operation, and patients seem to agree. Of respondents to patient satisfaction surveys distributed by the facility, “more than 95% of patients indicated they were completely satisfied with their experience and would recommend our facility to their family and friends,” reported Tabitha Carlson, Vice President of Clinical Operations at parent company CHDP.
“That’s what we’re aiming for,” said Carlson. “Our focus has always been on serving the community and ensuring each and every patient has the best experience possible.”
As of September 2023, Elko CHC accepts insurance through Anthem and Surgery Plus employer direct, with plans to expand to Medicare and all major commercial insurances by the end of the year.
