MARINETTE – Healthcare workers at Aurora Medical Center-Bay area will protest this week for better hospital wages and safe staffing levels, according to the Michigan Nurses Association.
Nurses and other healthcare workers at the hospital have been in negotiation with the health systems since June.
The workers will hold a rally outside the Marinette hospital Thursday night to demand better patient safety including fair wages, appropriate staffing levels, and other “common-sense” safety protections, the union said in a news release.

“We need to make sure our patients come before corporate profits,” said Emily Peretto, a nurse at the hospital. “Healthcare executives need to be held accountable. We need to make sure that our community is kept safe and can always have the highest quality of patient care.”
The employees’ contract expired at the end of September.
